Bihar teenager arrested

The Thudiyalur All Woman Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy of Bihar for alleged sexual harassment of a 10-year-old orphaned girl on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.

The police said that the girl, who lost her parents, lived with her father’s elder brother at Ganapathypalayam near Karumathampatty and was studying in 5{+t}{+h}standard in a Government school.

The boy was working in a textile unit there and stayed in the same area.

According to the police, the complaint lodged by a relative of the girl states that the girl tried to ease herself around 6 a.m. on Thursday and that the accused pulled her by her hair, punched her in the stomach and threw her into the thorny bushes. Police said that he tried to continually harm her, but people rushed to the spot on hearing her cry for help. The accused was booked under Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, arrested and produced before Juvenile Justice Board and lodged in the juvenile home.
