A one-year-old boy was said to have died on Wednesday after accidentally consuming shampoo in his house in the late hours of Tuesday.

The police said that Rajkumar and his wife Kanagavalli, of Vadakkipalayam near Pollachi, came to their relative’s place in Singanallur with their two sons Santhosh Kumar (3) and Jeevanandham (1).

According to the police, preliminary inquiries revealed that a bottle with shampoo accidentally fell down when the boys were playing and Jeevanandham had consumed it.

Realising that the boy was falling ill, the parents took him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he died on Wednesday. Singanallur Police was investigating the case.
