A case of attempt to murder has been filed against the Coimbatore Registrar of Companies, M. Manuneethi Chozhan.

The police said M.M. Sundaram (54), a resident of Idyarpalayam, had become acquainted with Manuneethi Chozhan as he was a consultant for various companies. Later, following differences of opinion, Sundaram had begun to distance himself from Manuneethi Chozhan.

Angered over this, Manuneethi Chozhan had allegedly filed false complaints against him. Sundaram too resorted to legal action.

Five unidentified persons armed with sticks and iron rods barged into Sundaram’s home on the night of April 24 and assaulted him, wife, and son. They reportedly threatened to kill them and abused them for having filed cases against Manuneethi Chozhan.

Sundaram lodged a complaint with the police.

A First Information Report was filed on April 26 against five persons, including Manuneethi Chozhan. Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 448 (house trespass) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code has been invoked.
