An aspiring entrepreneur should have the dream to create an institution, according to Raghu B. Viswanath, founder and Managing Director of Vertebrand.

Workshop

Speaking at the inaugural of a two-day workshop here on Thursday on “How to Become An Entrepreneur”, organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation, Mr. Viswanath said the latest industrialisation boom had killed the spirit of entrepreneurship. With the current economic trends, it would not be possible for a person to be an entrepreneur only for monetary reasons. The opportunity cost in a corporate was high compared to entrepreneurship. “We (entrepreneurs) have to chase the dream to create an institution. That should be the goal to pursue,” he said.

Mr. Viswanath also spoke about Vertebrand, which focused on advising small and medium enterprises to grow and have a brand.

“We have created several brands and helped them get funds,” he said. In several corporates, importance was more for the role and designation of individuals rather than their capabilities.

“Follow your dreams and become an entrepreneur,” he said.
