Sanganoor Road needs an urgent repair
Sanganoor Road, in the lst couple of days, has turned unfit for motoring.
With broken bitumen flakes making up for the road, even cycling has become a challenging task on the road that links Mettupalayam Road with Sathyamangalam Road.
The residents say that the new development is akin to pushing them from the frying pan to the fire because they have been suffering riding and driving the road, which saw the Corporation undertake the underground drainage work.
Flakes of concrete are on both sides of the concrete lining that covers the underground drainage, making it the only motorable space for two-wheeler riders.
The residents say such has been the roads condition for a few days and want the Corporation to restore the road to motorable condition.
Things are not that bad and the residents will soon have new road, says Ward 45 Councillor M. Gunasekaran.
The broken bitumen flakes are nothing but the top layer of the existing road that has been removed as part of the road laying process.
The broken bitumen flakes present the ideal rough surface to hold the blue metal that will be spread in a couple of days.
Thereafter the Corporation will spread red sand and then blue metal and then bitumen top the road.
From the railway crossing near Mettupalayam Road to the Sathyamangalam Road Junction,
Sanganoor Road will sport a fresh look in another 20 days. The Corporation is laying the road afresh after the underground drainage work has been completed.
The cost of the project is Rs. 57 lakh.
