IndiaProperty.com, a property portal, has launched a mobile application that helps smart phone users search for rental and purchase properties in their locality.
Ganesh Vasudevan, vice-president and business head of IndiaProperty.com, told presspersons here on Saturday, after the inaugural of property fair Grahapravesham 2012, that the mobile application was launched a month ago and it had registered 15,000 downloads so far. Almost 5,000 searches were made every day with it.
The mobile application was developed in-house and the company was now working on text-based searches on the mobile for the benefit of those using normal handsets. “Nearly 30 per cent to 35 per cent of searches for property will be on the mobile,” he said. The smart phone user has to download the application on the handset, type out the specifications of the property that is searched for and point the phone in the direction of the location that is searched, and the choices will be listed.
The user can also set an alert for the property requirement and get a reminder on the mobile if a property that matches the search is listed. The download facility is available for top 20 cities in the country, he said. Speaking about the demand for properties in Coimbatore, he said that there is a 25 per cent growth in traffic to IndiaProperty.com's Coimbatore page in the last nine months. Several tier-two cities were seeing a similar trend in demand. The search for purchase properties is specific to certain pockets, such as Saravanampatti here, in these cities.
