All Bharat Confederation of Senior Citizens and Pensioners has thanked Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for the efforts she has taken to make Avinashi-Athikadavu drinking water scheme a reality.

A release said that the Chief Minister writing to the Centre seeking Rs.1,862-crore assistance to implement the scheme and announcing that the State Government would go ahead with the scheme even if the Union Government were not to allocate funds showed her commitment, which was appreciable.

Karamadai, Annur, Avinashi, Bhavani Sagar, Gobichettipalayam south, Tirupur north, Uttukuli, Perundurai and Chennimalai would stand to receive water only if the scheme was implemented. The Confederation also appealed to the Union Government to sanction funds for the scheme.
