This is the first set of students under Samacheer Kalvi stream

As many as 48,208 candidates appeared for the SSLC public examinations that began on Wednesday in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts.

Scribes wrote the examination for 27 visually challenged and differently abled candidates.

According to officials in the education department, a total of 28,218 candidates including 17 visually challenged and differently abled candidates, 13,818 girls and 3,102 private candidates appeared for the examinations in Krishnagiri district in 63 examination centres in Krishnagiri and Hosur Educational districts.

A total of 3,102 private candidates appeared for the examinations in four separate centres each two in education districts.

After the introduction of Samacheer Kalvi stream, this is the first set of students that appeared for the SSLC examinations.

As Krishnagiri district shares borders with Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, a sizeable number of minority language candidates also appeared for the examinations.

The first examination being language, a total of 3,143 candidates wrote Telugu language examination.

For other languages, the total was: Kannada 151, Urdu 313 and Hindi 69. Candidates wrote the examinations in and around Hosur, Berigai, Denkanikottai and other parts of the district.

District Collector (in charge) C. Prakasam inspected two examination centres in Krishnagiri town and gave instructions to the officials to keep strict vigil till the answer sheets reached the control rooms established in Krishnagiri, Kaveripattinam, Uthangarai, Denkanikottai, Hosur and Kurubarapalli.

Ninety-seven officials including those attached to the flying squad were on high alert in Krishnagiri district.

In Dharmapuri, a total off 20,040 candidates including 2,157 private candidates, nine visually challenged and differently abled, nine dyslexia affected and 12,671 girls appeared for the examinations in 62 centres across the district.

As many as 1,900 officials and teachers including members of the flying squad and invigilators were involved in examination duty.

The answer sheet control rooms had been established in Dharmapuri, Palacode, Harur, Kadathur and Pennagaram.
