Applying for non-traceable certificate for important missing documents like passport and driving licence will be an easy task with Tamil Nadu Police launching an online service for reporting lost documents.

While the service in Coimbatore city was launched by Police Commissioner A. Amalraj, Superintendent of Police Pa. Moorthy gave start to the facility in Coimbatore rural.

The e-service available at http://eservices.tnpolice.gov.in currently enables public to get lost document report (LDR) of documents such as passport, vehicle registration certificate, driving licence, school/college certificates, and ID cards of private and Government establishments.

Before generating the instant LDR with a unique reference number, the complainant will be authenticated by the system through a one time password sent to his or her mobile number. The process also demands uploading scanned copy of any documents such as Aadhaar, Pan Card, driving licence and voter ID.

“The service will enable public to obtain LDR without visiting police station. We hope that many will be benefited by the service,” said Mr. Amalraj.

A provision has also been given for document issuing authorities (e.g., RTO) on the website for verifying the genuineness of the LDR.

Meanwhile, the new service also alerts that submission of false report to the police for obtaining LDR is punishable.

Apart from online LDR service, the website has also been upgraded to generate documents pertaining to road accidents that can be accessed by complainant, accused and witness.

Documents cases chargesheet of which have been submitted on or after March 1, 2017, can be downloaded under this facility.

Officials said that three sets of road accident case documents can be downloaded from the website namely FIR, final report and other documents. Each set of document can be downloaded by making payment of Rs. 10 through internet banking.

The documents will also be mailed to the e-mail id submitted in PDF format.

The service will help victims of road accidents to get their insurance claims settled easily and efficiently.

The Nilgiris district Superintendent of Police, Murali Rambha, unveiled the introduction of two new online facilities through the Tamil Nadu police website – the sharing of road accident case documents with victims/accused and lost document reporting on Thursday.

In a press release issued by the district police, the police stated that the facility was being launched to help the victims of road accidents to get their insurance claims settled expeditiously.

In Tirupur , City Police Commissioner P. Nagarajan said the city police had been carrying out adequate awareness on safe riding and also on the need for drivers to carry original driving licence from September 1. He added that the city police administration had commenced the online updating of details pertaining to road accident cases that occurred since March 1 this year as a citizen-friendly service and help the victims get the insurance claim settled expeditiously.

Police officials added that even the cases, which occurred prior to March 1 too would be updated if the chargesheet was framed subsequent to March 1.

The city police had also started an online facility to report loss of documents.
