An array of books at Rotary Book Fair

According to G. Krishnaraj, convenor of the book fair at Suguna Auditorium, Coimbatore, around 80 stalls have been set up this year with many national and international book publishers taking part.

For those residents of city thinking about buying a book, the book fair being organised by the Coimbatore West Rotary at Suguna Auditorium is the place to go. For, it boasts of a wide range of collection offering something for all types of readers.

The fair has books on varied topics ranging from education, religion, science and thrillers to spirituality, medicine and mathematics. Educational CDs are also available besides gadgets such as binoculars and telescopes.

According to G. Krishnaraj, convenor of the book fair, around 80 stalls have been set up this year with many national and international book publishers taking part.

Being held for the 18 consecutive year, he says the proceeds from the event is always used to fund social welfare projects. This year, the proceeds will be used to fund the construction of a classroom at a Government school in Rakkipalayam.

As part of the event, he says they are also holding career guidance programme for civil service aspirants, magic shows, singing and rangoli competitions.

The funds raised in the earlier editions have been used for causes ranging from eye caps in remote areas and tribal habitations, providing imported artificial hands for differently abled persons to funding computer rooms in classrooms. The expo timings are 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. on week days. It will remain open for an additional hour on weekends and holidays when it will close by 9.30 p.m. The expo concludes on October 10, he adds.
