Amway, which is investing Rs. 550 crore at a manufacturing facility in Madurai, plans to commission the plant in the third quarter of this financial year.
Sujoy Bose, vice-president (south) of Amway India, said at the launch of Be Bright range of products here on Wednesday that the company registered over Rs. 2000 crore turnover last financial year.
Nearly 30 per cent of the business was from the south. In Tamil Nadu, sale of homecare and personal care products were high.
The new plant in Madurai will help Amway reduce its dependence on imports and contract packaging. “Tamil Nadu will become very important to us when the plant is commissioned,” he said.
The size of the market for skin care products in the country is estimated to be nearly Rs. 7,500 crore.
The new range of products will help Amway reach out to a larger number of customers, he said.
