Ammunition recovered from tank in Perur

Over 80 ammunitions meant for use in three different kinds of fire-arms were recovered from a tank in Perur on Thursday.

It is learnt that fisherman Kabilan caught a small plastic bag on his net this morning. It had more than 30 rounds of ammunition to be used in .302 weapon, 40-odd bullets meant for 9 mm pistol and five bullets meant for use in revolver.

Investigations are on.

Goondas Act

Civil Supplies CID police have ordered the detention of three persons under Goondas Act for their reported attempts to smuggle Public Distribution System (PDS) rice to Kerala.

On August 17, five people were arrested for attempting to smuggle 35 bags of rice to Kerala.

The arrested included Shabeer (24), Shanshah (27) Abubacker (24), Amanullah (27) and Rajendran (29). Shabeer, Shanshah, and Amanullah were reportedly involved in many such cases, hence the decision to order their suspension.

Dowry case

Based on a complaint from Meghala (23) of Karamadai, police have registered a case of dowry harassment against her husband Ravikumar (25) of Vettaikaranpudur in Pollachi and his mother Padmavathy, relatives Jalayalskhmi and Selvi.

It is learnt that the family after taking away the 24 sovereigns of jewellery given at the time of marriage in 2010 were harassing her demanding more dowry.

Man found dead

Gopalakrishnan (35) of Selvapuram Housing Unit was found dead. The police suspect the victim to have consumed poison.

The police said he used to take money from people promising to carry out various works related to RTO office.
