Over 3,000 people, including school children, witnessed Air Fest that was conducted at the Sulur Air Force Station here on Wednesday as part of Independence Day celebrations. The programme showcased various types of aircraft and equipment used by the Indian Air Force. A release from the IAF said the event aimed at helping the youth familiarise with the role of the IAF as “Guardian of Sky”, and also enable people to know how the Air Force personnel strove to live up to the motto “Nabham Sparsham Deeptam” (Touch the Sky with Glory). A stall was put up to provide information to students on career prospects in the IAF. The force’s significant operations were also screened. The Air Fest also highlighted the peacetime contributions of the personnel at the Air Force Station, Sulur, such as the relief and rescue operations during natural calamities.
