AIADMK stages demonstration

June 18, 2010 02:59 pm | Updated 02:59 pm IST - SALEM:

Criticising the DMK regime as anti-people's government, cadres of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration near the Collectorate here on Thursday urging the State to provide basic amenities in Salem city and remove the power cut that has crippled the industry in the district.

The cadre raised slogans against the DMK regime saying that the government had not fulfilled promises made to the people of Salem city.

Condemning the Salem Corporation for its apathetic attitude to people's problems, the party wondered what had happened to the assurance given on the alternative day supply of water to Salem city.

The drinking water shortage had gripped the city and also district, the cadre claimed. The steep price increase in yarn and power cuts had totally destroyed the district's industry. The law and order situation had also worsened, they said.
