All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) cadres, led by party leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, protested here on Sunday against “irregularities and inefficiency” in the Coimbatore Corporation.

Following a call by AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa, , the party workers gathered in front of the Red Cross building and raised slogans condemning the Corporation.

They charged that the civic body had not implemented the morning snack scheme, as promised in the budget, and urged it to expedite the underground drainage, Pilloor Phase II and solid waste management schemes.

Public woes

The delay in completion of schemes under implementation was putting the residents into untold hardship such as UGD scheme besides the erratic drinking water supply in most of the areas in North and East Zones of the city, they alleged.

Legislators T. Malaravan, S.P. Velumani, R. Chinnaswamy and S.M. Velusamy, AIADMK party leader in the council P.Rajkumar, councillors and other party functionaries participated in the protest.
