All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam members continued to offer prayers for the party general secretary Jayalalithaa’s return to power as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, party’s Youth and Young Women’s Wing organised a Sri Maha Nandi Yagam at Avarampalayam in the city.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development S.P. Velumani expressed confidence that such sincere prayers offered by lakhs of party cadre will soon be answered. “Amma (Jayalalithaa) will become the Chief Minister again,” he said.
As part of the event, 68 bulls were donated to the Goshala. Thousand of cadres (mostly youth) also donated their eyes. They handed over the filled in forms to the party’s State Secretary for the Youth and Young Women’s Wing and Tiruchi MP P. Kumar and to Mr. Velumani.
Welfare gifts such as cricket kits, study chairs and dictionaries were given to students and youth.
Sewing machines, hot packs, steel and plastic vessels and sarees were distributed to women. Such gifts were given away to 4,613 beneficiaries.
Free food was served to about 5,000 persons.
AIADMK Town Secretary and Coimbatore Mayor P. Rajkumar, MLAs and MPs participated in the event.
