AIADMK groups prefer complaints against one another

Following clashes between a member of the AIADMK (Amma) faction and AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) faction, both of them have lodged a complaint against one another. The police said that when AIADMK (A) member, Radhamani, questioned former Pallapalyaam town panchayat chairman and AIADMK (PTA) member Shanmugam for using the sand meant for drain construction for his house, a scuffle broke out. According to Radhamani’s complaint, Shanmugam and his son Parthiban assaulted her and her supporters. She was admitted to a private hospital there. In his complaint, Shanmugam said that Radhamani had assaulted him. The police said that they were inquiring into both the complaints. Radhamani had just swithched sides from AIADMK (PTA) to AIADMK (A).

One held

The police on Thursday arrested S. Thiruvasagam (60) of Varatharajapuram, Thondamuthur, from a shop near the Perumal Temple on the charge of selling banned tobacco products. The police said that they seized 18 packets of chewable tobacco.

Student kidnapped

Seventeen-year-old daughter of M. Masidurai (42) of Sokkampalayam, Annur, was reported missing on June 27 from her house. Masidurai had told the police that when he got up around 2 a.m. on the day, he found his daughter missing and on inquiry learnt that an auto rickshaw driver he engaged often had kidnapped the girl. The police said that they were on the lookout for the driver, K. Ramesh (27) of Sathy Road.

Man killed

D. Manikandan(29) of MSR Puram, Mettupalayam was killed in an accident involving his motorcycle and a lorry on the Mettupalayam Annur Road on June 28 night. He died on the way to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital. S. Naresh Babu, who was riding pillion, has been admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The police have registered a case against lorry driver Marimuthu.

Two held

The police have arrested two persons on the charge of possessing lottery tickets. The police said that they found T. Ganesan (54) of Chettipudur, Kinathukadavu, in possession of 14 lotteries at Chettipudur bus stop. S. Krishnamoorthy (49) of Pethi Chettiar Street near Karumariamman Temple was arrested on the Coimbatore-Siruvani Road after they found him possessing four lottery tickets.
