AIADMK, DMK vying with each other in pamphlet distribution

‘Karuvin kutrame, kaathirukku spectrumae’ and ‘Oiyarak-kondaiyaam, thazhampoovam’ is fast becoming household names as the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam are vying with one another to reach the public with their publications.

The first is a poetry printed in Coimbatore, published by the AIADMK students’ wing and distributed by the students’ and youth wings.

It hits out at the DMK first family by alleging that it was involved in scams, including the 2G spectrum allocation.

A senior AIADMK functionary said that the party chose to distribute the handbill to counter the DMK leader M. Karunanidhi, who through his writings in the party organ Murasoli tried “paint a wrong image” that her party leader Jayalalithaa was corrupt.

Through the members of the two wings, the party had been distributing the bills in various parts of the city by selecting an area a day.

Household

The members would move door-to-door to reach every household and commercial establishment there.

The AIADMK source added that the party thought it fit to counter the DMK only in this fashion and was not concerned about the latter distributing ‘Oiyarak-kondaiyaam, thazhampoovam’ as the people would sift through to read the facts. But for the DMK the booklet distribution had led to problems as there were skirmishes in Pollachi, Annur and Pappanaickenpalayam.

Sources in the DMK said that the party headquarters had sent close to 25,000 books for distribution in the city, which they giving it to people by meeting them at houses and work places.

But the distribution was not uniform as at many places the party workers were busy in the inner party elections, which was underway.
