The Central Secretariat of DREU has decided to launch agitations at various places in Southern Railway to highlight a charter of demands and the dates for these will be announced later.
The meeting and conference began here on Friday in which Member of Parliament and its President T. K. Rengarajan presided.
On Friday, a conference of various trade unions and unorganised sectors was organized.
DREU's executive secretary R. Elangovan, CITU state general secretary A. Soundararajan and others addressed the gathering.
The conference decided to organize a series of agitations to highlight the demands such as the filling of 1.74 lakh vacancies in the Railways.
It urged the abolition of new pension scheme and bonus ceiling.
The productivity linked ex-gratia should be given and the 12-hour work on roster should be abolished.
A day train between Salem and Coimbatore should be operated. The participants also took out a rally earlier.
