Detained under Goondas Act

Asai Thambi (44), of Thousand Lights, Chennai, an advocate and President of Makkal Desam Party was detained under Goondas Act by The Nilgiris District Collector P. Sankar on Friday. The detention order was served to him at the Coimbatore Central Prison on Saturday.

According to the police, the advocate who had many cases against him including murder, attempt to murder, rioting and assault for valuables in various districts in Tamil Nadu was last arrested by Gudalur Police on June 1, 2016, for the alleged abduction of a priest from Kerala for ransom.
