Action against meat shops

The Coimbatore Corporation officials initiated action against shopowners who sold chicken, meat and beef on Tuesday – Thiruvalluvar Day.

According to sources, a team of officials seized about 200 kg of meat. The civic body had earlier issued an order asking people running shops that sell meat, chicken, beef, and pork to down shutters on TuesdayBased on the order, the team of officials conducted raids at shops in Podanur, Singanallur, Uppilipalayam, Peelamedu, near SITRA, Kalapatti, Gandhipuram, Kotaimedu, Town Hall, Vadavalli, and a few other areas.

The team seized rotten meat from a shop in Ukkadam Market and ordered its closure. In Kavundampalayam, the team sealed a shop after its owner entered into an argument with the team members.
