G. Parimala of Kempanaickenpalayam, near Annur, on Monday petitioned the district authorities against her son’s Tamil teacher in the government school in the locality. She alleged that the teacher did not allow her son to study in the class. Her son, S. Praveen, is a seventh grader.

The teacher abused, threatened and ill-treated Praveen. If the boy were to approach the teacher for getting signature in notebooks or some work, the latter would chide him for no reason. Once when the teacher had meted out corporal punishment to her son, she met the teacher and also the principal. As they apologised, she accepted it in the interest of her son’s education.

If the teacher were to continue harassing her son, where would she take him for education as she could afford only government school, the woman said and sought action against the teacher.

Mosquito control

Vadavalli Rajiv Gandhi Nagar resident S. Vadivel complained that despite his request for carrying out mosquito control measures, the Coimbatore Corporation had done very little. In his petition submitted at the grievances redress meeting, he said that after a member of his family fell sick and he took them to a hospital, the doctors there said that it could be dengue fever. Based on the information, he informed the Coimbatore Corporation about it and asked for fogging in the area. In the past week, there had been no response from the Corporation, Mr. Vadivel alleged and wanted the civic body to take steps to control mosquitoes.
