More than 2.4 lakh people are estimated to have visited the World Classical Tamil Conference venue on Sunday, the concluding day.
According to police sources, the crowd turn out on the first and last day would have been the highest in the five days.
Exhibition hall, Internet exhibition hall, conference main pandal and food courts remained jam packed.
Those who could not get into the conference venue witnessed the valediction on the large size LED, LCD and Plasma screens erected at a number of places outside the ‘pandal.'
With Sunday being the last day and a holiday, the conference witnessed a steady inflow of people since morning leaving the entire conference venue in a sea of humanity.
Many participants said that they wanted to be at the conference venue at least for a day braving all hardships for a simple reason that they could have been part of a historical event. Similarly, large number of people visited the CIT Grounds to have glimpse of the floats.
The Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, instructed the officials to keep the exhibition and floats opened to public till July 4.
