Around 3,000 teachers were likely to be pressed into answer script valuation of Class X public examination, which began on March 26 and concluded on Wednesday.
Department of School Education sources told The Hindu here on Wednesday that a total of 44,606 students took the class X public examination this year at 98 centres in Coimbatore district.
As was the case last year, no incidents of malpractice occurred in Coimbatore. Two valuations camps have been established, one each at Coimbatore and Pollachi educational districts.
The valuation of answer scripts would commence on Thursday and was likely to be completed in 10 to 15 days. While around 2,000 teachers would be posted to the camp in Coimbatore, the rest would be posted to Pollachi camp.
As was done for the Plus Two answer scripts valuation, the Department of Government Examinations had begun to establish valuation camps in all educational districts from this year for Class X also.
Till last year, they were confined to one per revenue district. Tamil Nadu had a total of around 66 educational districts.
Besides helping to reduce the total valuation duration, another major advantage of this system was in reducing the travel time for teachers. For example, teachers in Valparai need no longer travel all the way to Coimbatore as a camp had been established in Pollachi itself, an official said.
Similarly, the bar-coded answer sheets used for Plus Two were also adopted for Class X.
The Plus Two valuation, which began on March 21, was likely to be concluded by the end of this week. The results would be published by May 9.
