A police team led by Peelamedu Inspector D. Suresh and Singanallur Inspector P. Maheshwaran on Saturday nabbed three dropouts who were wanted in 11 cases.
According to a release from the Coimbatore City Police, the team during a vehicle checking drive near the BSNL office on Kamarajar Road in Singanallur intercepted three youth for questioning.
During the course of the investigation, the three – G. Dileepan, 21, R. Prasanth, 21, and M. Jayaprakash, 19 - confessed to the crime.

The team also found spanners, cutting pliers, knife, screwdrivers, gloves, extension cord and other equipment. The team also found jewellery.
The team immediately detained the three and took them for interrogation.
The release said that during the course of interrogation the team learnt that the three dropouts were involved in 11 cases in Singanallur and Peelamedu.
They had broken open automatic teller machines, indulged in burglaries, waylaying and other crimes.
Inspector Mr. Suresh said that the three – one had not completed his graduate programme in statistics and the other two had left incomplete their diploma – were first-time offenders.
The police had no records about the three though they were involved in six waylaying incidents, burglaries and a few other cases in the past six months.
The three wanted to make it big in life at the earliest, the Inspector said. With the aim, they tried to target ATM centres, particularly those that were unmanned.
After their first failed attempt, the three carried spanner and a few more tools.
They did so after the second failed attempt and kept increasing the tools in their possession after every attempt until they were caught.
The Inspector said that the team seized 33 sovereigns jewellery, computer peripherals and tools.
