15 injured in multiple collision

Around 15 persons were injured in a multiple collision involving a private bus, a van , and four lorries near Eachanari Vadakuthottam on Neelambur Bypass Road, in the wee hours of Tuesday. Chettipalayam Police said that it took place around 3 a.m. There was no casualty.

According to the police, it all began when a private bus heading from Bengaluru to Kottayam tried to overtake a lorry and hit the side of a lorry that came in the opposite direction. The lorry went off the road and fell on its left side. It was followed by a head on collision of two lorries – one carrying a fish load that was behind the bus and the other a cement laden lorry that came behind the lorry that was hit by the bus. Both the vehicles went off the road.

To avert the accident a lorry carrying chilly stopped just ahead of the accident scene, when a van carrying passengers from Hosur to Coimbatore rammed it from behind.

Fifteen persons including the drivers of the vehicles and passengers were injured in the accident. Traffic was hit on the bypass road for a long time. People of the locality and the police rushed the victims to a nearby private hospital. Chettipalayam Police registered a case and are investigating.
