The Wellington Cantonment Board has installed 11 e-toilets and six water ATMs on Wednesday.

A release said that the Board CEO P. Harish Varma inaugurated the facilities in the presence of vice president M. Bharathiyar and members at Boys Company Bus Stand, Cattle Pound, Black Bridge, Wellington Lake 2, near MH, Wood Yard Barracks, near MRC Gate II, Wellington Play Ground, Bus Stand and near the Cantonment entry point.The cost was around ₹95 lakh.

The septic tank attached to the e-toilets processed the waste in anaerobic method or with similar technology as approved by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The cost also included napkin vending machines and incinerators. Those using the water ATMs could also have hot water and that too round-the-clock at ₹ 1 a litre. The water supplied was purified using a five-stage reverse osmosis process.
