The anti-land grabbing cell on Tuesday evening arrested 10 persons on the charge of grabbing 5.11 acres belonging to K. Sivakumar (38), a textile printing unit owner, at Nallur in the city using forged documents.

According to the sources, the main accused, L. Devaraj (62), along with his eight relatives and friends, prepared bogus power of attorney document and sold the property to the tenth accused Karthikeyan (42), a real estate broker. The accused then managed to register the deal with the sub-registrar office at Nallur during January this year.

Bank loan

The complainant had realised that he was duped only recently when he approached a bank to get loan to meet the expenditure for his business expansion plans by pledging the documents related to the land. While obtaining the details of title deed for the said plot for the last 30 years, as asked to be furnished by the bank officials, Mr. Sivakumar found that some people had changed the ownership. This forced him to lodge a complaint with the anti-land grabbing cell.
