The son of a BSP leader from Uttar Pradesh today allegedly opened fire in a South Delhi bar this morning over a minor altercation with the staff, a charge denied by his father.
No one was hurt in the incident which took place when Vikas Singh along with his wife and sister went to the Mocha resto-bar at around 11.45 a.m. purportedly to recover a handbag which was lost the night before when they were dining there, police said.
While police detained the two women, Vikas who had opened fire managed to flee.
The bullet fired by him hit a wooden board inside the bar, police said.
However, Vikas’ father, Chandraveer Singh, told reporters that though his son was present at resto-bar he had not opened fire.
“My son, daughter and daughter-in-law had gone there to eat when someone misbehaved with my daughter. Following this, my daughter slapped that person. There was no firing,” he said.
A senior police official said, on receiving information they reached the spot and detained the two women.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the two women had visited the bar last night where, they said, they forgot their purses.
