A call, saying that a bomb was planted in a multi-storied building that houses offices of information technology companies in Kolkata's eastern outskirts, caused panic on Wednesday.

However, extensive searches by bomb detection squads, proved it was a hoax. The call was traced to a youth in Hooghly district and he was arrested.

Superintendent of Police of North 24 Parganas district Rahul Srivastav said Somnath Dhol, a resident of Dankuni, called up the police and said that a bomb was planted on the ground floor of the 14-storey-Technopolis building.
