The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday alleged that the Jharkhand Government had put the lives of its senior party leader L.K.Advani and National Democratic Alliance Convenor, Sharad Yadav, in danger by providing wrong coordinates to the pilot of a helicopter they were travelling in for an election rally in the State.
Party Vice President, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, lodged a formal complaint to the Election Commission here and urged it to take stringent action against the State Government and its officials responsible for the incident.
In his complaint, he said the two leaders were put to grave danger as the chopper was forced to hover over a naxalite affected area for about 45 minutes because of wrong coordinates provided by the district authorities.
The two leaders were going from Bokaro to Nallah. The district administration at Bokaro provided the coordinates for the destination, but it proved to be completely wrong.
Unable to find the spot where the rally was being held, the pilot finally used the coordinates he had for another place called Goddah and landed there safely. Meanwhile, the chopper had to dangerously hover over a naxalite-affected area for about 45 minutes, he said.
Alleging that ``it appears to be a deliberate mischief’’, Mr. Naqvi asked the poll panel to give strict instructions to the State Government that adequate security measures were taken for the leaders of BJP and its NDA allies.
