The Home Ministry on Wednesday dismissed as “baseless” allegations by some leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party that the Liberhan Commission report was leaked by the Ministry or the Home Minister.

A Ministry spokesperson quoted a telecast by NDTV on Wednesday afternoon wherein the organisation’s group editor Barkha Dutt categorically stated that “we will not reveal our sources but we can say that the leak of the Liberhan Commission report did not come from the Home Ministry. We did not attribute the leak to anyone to the Home Ministry.”

The spokesperson said it was “an important admission and completely answers the baseless charge made by some BJP leaders who alleged that the report was leaked by the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Home Minister.”
