Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani and his mother Kokilaben Ambani flew into the Nedumbassery airport from Mumbai by 5 p.m. on Saturday, and reached Pathanamthitta within an hour by chartered helicopter, on their way to the Ayyappa shrine at Sabarimala. They proceeded to Pampa by road on their way to the hill shrine. Two executives of the company accompanied them.

Mr. Ambani himself drove the car from a helipad prepared at the public stadium at Pramadom near the district headquarters town of Pathanamthitta. He waved to a crowd assembled there.

The mother and son had the customary ‘kettumurukku’ ceremony at the Pampa Ganapati Temple and ascended the Neelimala with the “irumudikkettu” (sacred bundle) on their heads soon afterwards.

They were set to stay overnight at the sannidhanam and offer prayers at the Ayyappa shrine on Sunday morning before returning.
