Vigorously defending the hike in the prices of petroleum products, the Congress said the bandh sponsored by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Left parties was a “complete flop.”
Party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi, accusing the Opposition parties of causing inconvenience to the ‘aam aadmi,' in whose name the bandh had been called, said that but for the States in which the Opposition parties were in power, the bandh call had failed to get a response.
The BJP, he said, was used to speaking with a “forked tongue” on the issue, while recalling that the prices of petroleum products were increased repeatedly — between 1998 and 2004, when the NDA coalition was in power. The price of petrol had been increased 25 times, and kerosene four times then, he stressed. Taking a swipe at the Left parties, he “congratulated” them on not minding being the “bedfellows of the ultra right,” the BJP.

Do these politicians really think the people are complete idiots?
Time will tell the effect of the bandh. As of now, apart from paying the increased price of fuel, the nation would probably also have to shoulder the recovery of the reported Rs13,000 crores loss inflicted by the bandh organized by the opposition BJP and its strange Communist bed-fellows and others. Does'nt this band of bandh politicians ever considered that any loss or damage inflicted by their selfish actions on public property, etc., will be borne by tax-payers whose interest they purport to support? It seems they would take advantage to achieve their aims, but have no compassion for their countrymen and country - and would exploit at every available opportunity to seize power.
