Getting sporty

The game and the dresses had a shorter version at the Signature Golf Championship's North zone finals

Dressed in a sparkling white off-shoulder gown, Bollywood beauty Neha Dhupia looked stunning as she walked the ramp for Delhi designer Siddartha Tytler in the Capital recently. Themed “Bold and Beautiful”, the evening celebrated the North zone finals of the Signature Golf Championship in Delhi.

“This is the only golf tournament in the country for amateurs,” said Paramjit S. Gill, the brand's COO for the northern region. On why she chose to support the brand, Neha said, “I relate to the theme of bold and beautiful because I personally experiment a lot and keep trying to do something new and innovative in my career. I have also been a sportsperson throughout my school and college life and play squash regularly these days to stay fit.”

As for the new format being introduced in India, Gill said, “Golf can be a very boring and long game in its original format, often stretching up to five hours. The new format is a game of nine holes which takes around two-and-a-half hours. This is done to popularise the game as people have less time nowadays. It is more interesting as it involves big risks.” On the connection between sports and fashion, Gill said, “Golf is a premium stylish sport which has a lifestyle connotation.” Tytler's collection, “Dynasty”, was inspired by Hollywood glamour of the '50s, with long, flowing gowns in ivory, gold and powder blue. “The collection is very feminine, with special touches to the pleats, gathering, pin tucks and the corsetieres,” said the designer. He also showcased a fun range with short dresses and skirts in black combined with fuchsia, orange and deep charcoal.
