Train of thought

Tata and Jagriti Sewa Sansthan invite registrations for Tata Jagriti Yatra 2009, an inspirational train journey across India aimed at awakening the entrepreneurial spirit among young people.

The special journey will cover nearly 8000 km in 18 days (December 24, 2009 - January 11, 2010).

To be part of this journey, young people from India and overseas, in the age group 20-25, can apply online on www.jagritiyatra.com.

Four hundred yatris will be selected by a panel of judges on the basis of demonstration of their entrepreneurial spirit.

For women

This year there is a special emphasis on increasing participation from women yatris and role models.

The yatra will halt at Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Jamshedpur, Deoria, Delhi, Meethapur and Tiloniya.

This gives an incredible opportunity to the yatris to interact with local people and visit inspiring role models and institutions situated in those places .

Six televised panel discussions will be held at key stops of the journey to discuss social and economic enterprise topics of national relevance.

These will help stimulate ideas, and give the yatris indications of new directions.
