Three Colors Red


UTV World Movies, Saturday, 8.30 p.m.

Three Colors Red is a 1994 French-Polish-Swiss co-production, co-written, produced and directed by Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski. It is the final film of the Three Colors trilogy, which examines the French Revolutionary ideals. It is preceded by Blue and White. Red is about the concept of fraternity, which it examines by showing characters whose lives gradually become closely interconnected, with bonds forming between two characters who appear to have little in common.

Ganga Jamuna

Zee Cinema, Saturday 8 p.m.

Cruel and sadistic thakur Hansraj kills his brother-in-law and throws his own sister out of the family home. The sister swears to avenge the death of her husband. Her son Ganga grows up to fulfil his mother’s wish. Directed by Manmohan Desai, this films stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty and Jayaprada.

Drillbit Taylor

HBO, Saturday, 9 p.m.

A trio of anxious high school freshmen are targeted by the school bully, Filkins, on the first day of school. Before they become completely engulfed in Filkins’ reign of terror, they seek protection by placing an ad for a personal bodyguard. It’s Drillbit Taylor, not the best but definitely the cheapest of the hit men and bodyguards. He’s a fraud and is no match for Filkins. Now it’s up to the trio to transform this down and out drifter into the saviour he promises to be.
