Catch “Dial M For Murder” and “The Directors” today

Time for weekend films. The U.S. Consulate organises ‘Saturday Matinee’ at the American Library, Gemini Circle, the U.S. Consulate General today (September 26). At 11 a.m. watch “Dial M for Murder”, directed by Alfred Hitchcoc k.

Alfred Hitchcock’s screen version of Frederick Knott’s stage-hit “Dial M For Murder” is a blend of elegance and suspense, casting Grace Kelly, Ray Milland and Robert Cummings as the points of a romantic triangle. When American writer Mark Halliday (Robert Cummings), visits the very married Margot Wendice (Grace Kelly) in London, he unknowingly sets off a chain of blackmail and murder. After sensing Margot’s affections for Halliday, her husband Tony Wendice (Ray Milland), fears divorce and disinheritance, and plots her death. Tony blackmails Captain Lesgate into conspiring to kill Margot. When she kills Lesgate in self-defence, Tony implicates her as being guilty of premeditated murder.

At 2 p.m. catch “The Directors”. The 2000 film is about Steven Spielberg. A man whose films have almost single-handedly revolutionised the motion picture industry, Steven Spielberg is, perhaps, the most celebrated director of the modern era. Actors who discuss his mastery include Laura Dern, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, Jeff Goldblum, Ben Kingsley, Liam Neeson and Roy Scheider.
