cheerful Catching up

PAVENDER BHARATHIDASAN POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

The Hangout: A tree

Rush Hour: After class hours

Where it’s at: Near the main block

What’s to love: The students come together to laze around, recline and catch up with one another on the latest updates of their life surrounding academics, family, friends and loved ones.

They claim they are all acclaimed ‘chatter boxes’ as they talk about everything from films, music, actors, sports, competitions, gossip, food, current affairs, campus updates and much more.

It is out ‘n’ out Mars Vs Venus here. This bunch seems to be clearly divided, as boys take on girls and vice versa.

Both sides are equal competitors and both the groups rib each other about dressing, attitude, antics and gimmicks. The boys tease girls for wearing ‘stools’ as heels or conversing in English before them. The girls mock at the boys for combing their hair at regular intervals or talking over the phone to grab attention the moment they spot a girl coming in their direction.

But nonetheless, they bond perfectly during social gatherings like attending weddings or family functions, eating out, going out for shopping, picnic r movies.

Also, they pledge solidarity to one another and rise up to the occasion if any of them faces any trouble.

Helping hands are out instantly.

Playing sports like cricket, volleyball, football, basketball, kabbadi, skipping, and kho-kho keep them glued even better. They always enthusiastically look forward to the college day, various sports events, and NSS tours.

Ujjevi, an II year student confesses, “We believe in the empowering with knowledge and thoroughly enjoy our NSS tours where we get an opportunity to impart the importance of computer education to the students in the rural community.”

What’s not to: Obviously, academia!

Alternatives: They hang out in the garden near the campus temple. Here, at times they get to delve on philosophy and mythology other than their regular babble.
