New frontiers Baba Sehgal plans to concentrate on acting

Life atop the Baba Sehgal bandwagon continues to be lively. Baba, who is one of the judges on the reality show Hasne aur Hasane ka Tonic, Ladies Special being telecast on Zee TV, is a bit sour about the decline in music standards these days. He says, “Singers are not respected these days. Agar koi singer alaap laga raha hai to log kehte hain, kya alaap raha hai, which is quite pathetic.”

Baba is not giving up. He is ready with his new album, called Apni Life Ki Gaddi Ko Dhakka Maar. Containing nine songs, it took him almost a year to completeand will be released next month. Keeping in mind the market forces he has concentrated on rap songs with simple lyrics that will appeal to the young.

On Ladies Special , it is reported that Baba was not entirely happy with veteran actress Tabassum hogging all the limelight with her wit and poetry. However, Baba feels he has got his moments too and judges the participants from “a male’s perspective”. He adds, “Tabassum ji is loaded with experience and I have been watching her on TV since I was born, starting from Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan.”

Besides the show, journey continues to be exhilarating for Baba who will now be seen singing two songs in his new film My Friend Ganesha which is slated to be released on Independence Day. In the film Baba will be playing the lead role as a Punjabi truck driver. He will also start shooting for a big banner in September this year. Baba says, “Now into my second innings you will see more of me in the films and on television.” Keep watching. The Baba Sehgal show is on.
