Getting real

Movies have been made on the great love stories of Romeo and Juliet, Laila and Majnu, and Ambikapathi and Amaravathi. Now, another great love story is being filmed as “Vaigai”, to be released this month. The difference between this and all the other romances? The lovers on whom this story is based will not only get to watch the film, but also star in its climax. Director Sundarapandi says “Vaigai” will also feature the lilting ‘Aayirm Thamarai’ from the trendsetting “Alaigal Oyvadhillai”. “We wanted to remix the song. But, we thought that would kill it. So, we’ve retained it in original with permission,” he says.
