MY GRANDMA'S RECEIPE
How to make...Somas
SARITA JAIN
|
An all-time favourite with a sweet twist
|
I learnt this dish from my grandmother while I still lived in my native village in Rajasthan. Rajasthani snacks usually have a tangy, sweet-sour flavour. This is one dish that is a hit on rainy evenings.
Cooking instructions
Make a dough with maida, ghee, salt and warm water.
Knead well and keep aside for 10 minutes.
Make a mixture of dry coconut powder, raisins, sugar and cardamom powder.
Make small balls from the dough and roll them out flat like a puri.
Place the mixture in the centre of the puri and close the sides by gently pressing them together.
Shape like a samosa and fry in ghee till it turns golden brown.
What you need
Maida - 250 gm
Ghee - 100 gm
Salt – a pinch
Dry coconut powder – 100 gm
Raisins (kishmish) – 10 gm
Sugar – 10 gm
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Ghee, for frying – a little
