“Staycation” was coined by Canadian comedian Brent Butt in his famous television series “Corner Gas.” It became popular with soaring gas prices and economic slowdown. Though environmentalists support the trend as “sustainable” vacation because you save up on fuel, avid travel bloggers dismiss it as “sad.”
