Luxurious break At Kaya Kalp
Kaya Kalp — The Royal Spa was recently announced as the first winner at Tatler Spa Awards in London.
Kaya Kalp bagged the honour of ‘Best City Spa’, under the category of ‘City Slickers’, beating eight other famous hotels — such as The Peninsula in Singapore, Rome’s Hotel de Russie, Four Seasons — George V at Paris, Shanghai’s Hyatt on the Bund, New York’s Mandarin Oriental, The Lyall in Melbourne and the Ritz Carlton at Santiago.
Kaya Kalp, launched in May this year, is the only award winner from India and finds a place in the prestigious Tatler Spa Guide for 2008, which features 101 of the best spas of the world.
Located in Agra, Kaya Kalp offers a living experience similar to the opulent lifestyle of the Mughal dynasty.
Mughal architecture
With the spa experience spread over 99,000 sq ft, it is also the largest spa in the country and combines Mughal architectural features and design as well as indigenous traditional treatments.
The theme of the pomegranate — a fruit, said to have been brought into India by the first Mughal Emperor, Babar, pervades the interiors in the form of a leitmotif, running dramatically across the white floor as an inlay in red engineered stone.
