When the tsunami struck, giant waves swallowed fishermen’s hamlets, crops, buildings and thousands of people within minutes. Many were left homeless and abandoned. But the worst of times sometimes bring out the best in humanity. Post-tsunami re habilitation in India reflected how the government machinery spearheaded by committed officials and combined with a host of well-meaning private individuals and institutions can bring about a change in the lives of a shattered people.
