Bebo makes up

Bebo has turned Miss Manners. Unbelievable but true. At boyfriend Saif Ali Khan’s birthday this week, she actually called up Bipasha and invited her. And yes, wonder of wonders, the latter reciprocated. The ice has thawed but not to an extent to include John Abraham as yet. But as usual, there’s more than meets the eye. Apparently Kareena is facing fire from the youngsters (read Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif). Which explains why she has gone on record to say that Bips was the best thing in ‘Race’ and even in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’. The end of one catfight and the beginning of another.

Another feather?

Let us figure this one out. She’s won the Gladrags Super Model, the Miss India and the Miss Universe crown. But even we are not sure that she saw this one coming. Lara Dutta, model-turned-actor was announced as one of the awardees of the Rajiv Gandhi Annual Award. Cinema-wise her contribution has been, well, umm, let’s name it for you –— ‘Zinda’ (?), ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ (??), ‘Partner’ and ‘No Entry’. That’s difficult to digest unless the trust has decided to laud her as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund under which she has reportedly worked on educating people about AIDS and has helped raise global awareness of women’s lack of rights and access to reproductive health services in India. Err, where?

Lover all the way

Randip Hooda’s obviously excited about the second half of this year. Two movies are coming up and he plays a lover in both. There’s Raja Ravi Verma’s role in Ketan Mehta’s ‘Rang Rasiya’ with Nandana Sen and Percept Pictures ‘Ru-Ba-Ru’ with newcomer Shahana Goswami. Interestingly these films are set in vastly different periods. From a 19th Century lover besotted with his muse, Randip moves on to a 21st Century one where work does not allow him to give time to his relationship. Playing lover — is it a case of wishful thinking, Randip?
