The verdict is out. In the media and on the Net. “Kismat Konnection” lacks director Aziz Mirza’s magic touch. However, the film has had record openings at the box office, thanks to the much-hyped Shahid-Vidya Balan chemistry. The UT V Motion Pictures’ release saw a worldwide gross box office collection of Rs. 27 crore in the opening weekend. Besides, the film is said to have had the second highest opening weekend in India — after “Race”, in 2008 (in Hindi). And yes, Shahid has reason to cheer. “Kismat…” is the highest opening ever for his film. Some favourable cosmic connection this!
