RIGHT TRACK Vidya had to refuse Dasavathaaram
The release of “Kismat Konnection” is around the corner and Vidya Balan has stepped out of her shell to set the record straight. She declares, yet again, that there’s nothing brewing between her and Shahid Kapoor. Career wise, she
8217;s on the right track with Aziz Mirza’s “Kismat Konnection” followed by a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and “Ishqiya”, produced by Vishal Bharadwaj.
Working with Aziz Mirza, she says, was a dream come true. “Women have always been the conscience of the men in Aziz uncle’s films. The women are charming and simple but are strong in their values and stand up for what they believe in.” A few hits and a few misses later, Vidya feels vindicated. “I was once labelled a jinx. I worked in two Malayalam films which stopped midway. Then I did a Tamil film where I was replaced with another actress. I took things in my stride. Those films didn’t work out for me because better things were in store. I feel vindicated and my beliefs stood the test of time,” she says firmly.
Was that a reason why she refused regional films and even turned down “Dasavathaaram”? “Not really. I didn’t have the dates. They needed six months of my time for “Dasavathaaram”. I am open to regional films,” she clarifies.
