Chak de Paranthe

A Punjabi food festival is on at South Park

Bhalle bhalle Punjabi parathas

Chak de phatte!!! The taste of Punjab wafts over the city this week with South Park’s ‘Punjabi Paranthe’ food festival.

This 10-day gourmet event, at the hotel’s coffee shop, which began on July 18, has a mouth-watering variety of authentic Punjabi parathas to delight even the most discerning of palettes.

Among the Masahari or non-vegetarian items is the unusual Jhinga paratha that is stuffed with succulent prawns cooked in a spicy masala.

Others more familiar to the city foodies are the Murgh paratha stuffed with chicken, the Kheema one, which is a paratha stuffed with minced mutton, and the Ande ke paratha, packed in with curried eggs.

For vegetarians

For the vegetarians they have the Shakahari variety of parathas made with North Indian vegetables. Notable among them is the Mooli paratha made of radish, Paneer paratha and the Methi paratha, stuffed with fenugreek leaves.

For those who want to try all sorts of vegetables there is the vegetable paratha and the vegetable roll paratha made of mixed vegetables. Those with the sweet tooth can go for the tasty lassi.

The dishes cost betwen Rs.80 and Rs.150.

Each dish will be accompanied by cuchumber salad made of onions, tomato, cucumber; yogurt and a variety of pickles.
