MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP
Priyadarshan is known for his rib-tickling, loud, over-the-top comedies. Critics might sneer at them but the masses just love them. He is back with “Mere Baap Pehle Aap”, a trademark comedy starring his favourites Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal. Coming back to Hindi cinema with the film is Genelia, first seen a few years ago with Ritesh Deshmukh in “Tujhe Meri Kasam”.
SUMMER 2007
This one has no big name or banner to recommend itself. Yet this Ashutosh Rana-Gul Panag-Sikandar Kher starrer is being talked about because of the topicality of the subject. It talks of agrarian crisis, particularly highlighting the farmers’ suicide cases in Vidharbha. A sensitive film with an item number to please the masses, it is directed by Sohail Tatari, for whom it is the first big screen foray.
SARKAR RAJ
The film has opened wonderfully well in Mumbai and parts of South India. But it has not been as successful in North and elsewhere. However, with still many prints of this Ram Gopal Varma’s Bachchan trio film running, there is still plenty of choice and opportunity for cinemagoers. Also starring Dilip Prabhawalkar, who has just won the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”.
